Dovie Durline Mays Murphree, 82, formerly of Water Valley, MS died Thursday, March 18. 2010 at her home in Germantown, TN. She was born January 21, 1928 in Calhoun County, MS to the late Melmath and Pauline Spradling Mays and was formerly a member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley. She was a loving wife and mother, and is remembered for having a benevolent heart. Because of her vivacious personality, she never met a stranger.
The funeral service will be held in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery with Bobby Moore, J.T. Martin, John Loper, Robert Inman, Johnny Lee Reed, and James Short serving as pallbearers.
She is survived by her husband, Doris Murphree of Germantown, TN; two daughters, Barbara Ann Taylor and her husband, Claude, of Southaven, MS, and Jacquelyn Mays Taylor of Memphis, TN; one son, Robert Doris Murphree and his wife, Janet, of Foley, AL; 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Walker and Rita Jean Regel.
