Obituary

Raymond L. Bosworth, 77 years old of Brockton, died Monday March 15, 2010 at West Roxbury VA Medical Center after a period of failing health. He was the loving and devoted husband of Ruth M. (Reardon) Bosworth for 57 years. Ray was born in E. Bridgewater and raised in Avon, son of the late Edgar R. and Eleanor (Veronesi) Bosworth. He was a resident of Brockton for the past 57 years. Ray was a 1950 graduate of Avon High School and attended Williams Business School. During the Korean Conflict he served in the US Navy stationed in Guam. For many years he was a logistics engineer at the Boston Naval Shipyard and when it closed he was transferred to Ships Parts and Control Center in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Ray was an avid golfer and member of D.W. Fields Golf Course where he had seven confirmed holes-in-one and had been a club champion in each of the past five decades. He also enjoyed playing bridge, bowling and was a member of the Westgate Lanes bowling leagues. An avid New England sports fan he enjoyed following all his grandchildren’s sporting activities. He was a Member of American Legion and the Executive Board of the Brockton Library Foundation.Ray loved walking at the Brockton VA Hospital followed by breakfast at Jack’s Restaurant with his family. He was a communicant of St. Edith Stein’s Parish.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brenda Rodrigues and her husband Arlindo of Brockton, Karen Howell and her husband Fred of Abington, Laurie Farrell and her husband John of Andover, Jan Pates and her husband Pete of Brockton, Steven Bosworth and his wife Kathy of Brockton, David Bosworth and his wife Darlene of Annville, PA, Lisa Roberts and her husband Darryl of Harrisburg, PA and the late Kevin Bosworth and his wife Denise of Bridgewater. He leaves 19 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Gloria Lucas of TX, Lois Sipes of AZ, Anthony Bosworth of Brockton, Edgar Bosworth of Norton, Michael Bosworth of E. Bridgewater and the late Eleanor Ferrini.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish at 9am. Burial in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, Taunton. Visiting hours Friday 4-8pm. Donations in memory of Ray may be made to the Brockton Library Foundation, P.O.
