Bertha Mercurio, a long-time Medford resident died Wednesday morning at the Dexter House Nursing Home. She was 95.
Born and raised in Boston’s West End, Bertha lived in Medford for over 70 years. A graduate of St. Clement High School, Bertha worked as a secretary for many years at New England Life in Boston.
The beloved daughter of the late Salvatore and Filippa (Mafisi) Mercurio, she was the devoted sister of Sr. Filippa Mercurio, CSJ of Framingham, the late Mary, Beatrice, Charles, Augustine and Joseph Mercurio. She was a dear sister-in-law of Marie T. Mercurio and a loving aunt of Joel Remer, Maria DiBenedetto, and Joseph Mercurio.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday March 20th at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale.
