Antonio O. Soares, age 75 of Fall River, passed away March 17, 2010. He was the husband of Virginia (Farias) Soares. Born in Santo Antonio alem Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, son of the late Joao and Teresa (Botelho) Oliveira. Prior to retiring, he worked for Jo-Ann Fabrics & previously for American Dryer Co. He was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Health Church now Espirito Santo Church and a member of the Our Lady of Light Band Club.
Besides his wife of Fall River, he is survived by his seven children: Maria Da Luz of West Warwick; Teresa Soares of New Bedford; Antonio Soares Jr. of Swansea; John O. Soares of Dartmouth; Joseph Soares of Sao Miguel, Azores; Odelia Oliveira of Fall River; and Norbert Soares of Fall River. 6 siblings: Maria Moniz, Henrique Soares, Joao Campos Soares all of Fall River; Alfred Campos Soares & Teresa Campos Correia both of Canada; Alice Oliveira of Westport. 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, & several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose Campos Soares.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. SATURDAY at 8:00 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling Hours FRIDAY 5-9 P.M.
