Joan F. Durling, 74, of Derry, NH, died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her residence. Born in England, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Lever) Edwards. She was a graduate of Central High School in Manchester, NH, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Mrs. Durling was a former employee of the Elliott Hospital in Manchester and a Secretary for the superintendent of the Manchester School System. She was a loving mother, grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her friends and her church family. Mrs Durling enjoyed visiting lighthouses, gardening and spending time watching birds.
She is survived by 4 sons, Michael W. Spaulding and his wife Esther, Warren D. Spaulding and his wife Aimee, Brian R. Spaulding and his wife Cathy and Joseph J. Durling and his wife Kimberly and 8 grandchildren. She is also survived by many great grandchildren and a step sister Maureen Thomas. She was a widow of Joseph A. Durling, Jr., who died in 2006.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 9:00am at the Church of the Transfiguration, 1 Hood Road, Derry. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements for the family. Memorials may be made to the Church Discretionary Fund.
