Richard B. Crawford, 78, of Hanson, formerly of Hanover, died Tuesday, March 16th at home, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Judith (Yafrate) Crawford. He was born in Weymouth, son of the late Harry and Ruth (Goulding) Crawford.
Richard was a graduate of Rockland High School Class of 1951.
He was a veteran of the United States Air force and served during the Korean War. He gave several years of service at Josselyn-Cummings American Legion Post # 149 in Hanover, where he was a three time Past Commander and served multiple boards positions. He was also the former President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #841 of Rockland.
Richard was in management of several grocery stores and retired from Lamplighter Village in Canton.
In addition to his wife Judy of 52 years, he is survived by his children, Christopher Crawford of Rockland and his long - time companion Carol, Brian Crawford of Pembroke, Andrew Crawford and his wife Karen of Halifax, Scott Crawford of Hanson and Sue Ellen Lincoln and her husband Peter of Plymouth, his brother Theodore Crawford and his wife Elizabeth of Hanover and the late Robert Crawford, his grandchildren Jason, Andrew, Emily, Amanda, Alison and Jonathan Crawford; also several cousins, nieces and nephews in the US and Canada.
His services will be held on Saturday, March 20th at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover. His visitation will be held on Friday, March 19th from 5:00-8:00PM.
