EAST TAUNTON – Juliana R. (Bergantim) Moniz, wife of Izidro Moniz, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton on March 15, 2010.
She was 53.
Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Raposo) Bergantim.
Raised and educated in Portugal, she moved with her family to the U.S. in 1977, settling in Taunton in 1979 after residing in Fall River for a time.
A homemaker for most of her adult life, Mrs. Moniz loved spending time with her family, especially at family gatherings, and in her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting.
She was very devoted to the caring of her 17 year old son, Nathan.
Besides her husband and son of East Taunton, she leaves five brothers, Norberto, Jorge, Jose, and Fernando Bergantim, all of Taunton, and Joao Bergantim of Easton; two sisters, Bertha Valcorba and Ana Moniz, both of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, March 20th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 19th from 5 to 8 p.m.
