William A. Greene, Jr. 86 years, of Middleboro, formerly of Weymouth and Hanover, died Monday, March 15, 2010 after a long illness at home. He was born in Jacksonville, FL., a son of the late William A. Greene, Sr. and Vivian (Burrell) Greene. Mr. Greene had been a longtime employee for the Fore River Shipyard. A decorated Army veteran of World War II, Bill participated in battles throughout the European theater that included D-Day, Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge, and many additional months in a combat engineer company. Bill enjoyed traveling to Florida and Europe with his wife Dot and many special vacations with the family in New Hampshire. Bill liked to reminisce with old friends and Army buddies and taking care of his cherished cats. Thanks, Bill, for being there when we needed you and being a great father.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Moore) Greene. Loving father of Nancy Bailey, Lynne Greene, Janet Daniels, and son Kenneth Greene and his wife Cheryl. Grandfather of Amy Powl and her husband Brian, Dan and his wife Kathy, Dave, Joanna, Jess and great-grandfather of Livia and Juliet Powl, and Nathan Greene.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 4-7pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm. Burial will be at a later date in North Weymouth Cemetery.
