McDonald, Sheila M., 74, passed away on March 16,2010 surrounded by her family. The third child of Irish immigrants Denis and Julia Kelleher, Sheila was born and raised in the Inwood section of Manhattan. She is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Hunter College. She received her masters degrees from Hunter College and Bank Street College in New York City. Sheila was a career educator and taught for the United States Army in Germany, public elementary schools in Manhattan and the Bronx, and St. Agatha’s School in Nyack, NY. She was a communicant at St. Anastasia Church in Teaneck, NJ and Ascension Church in Bradley Beach. Sheila was an active parishioner and cheerfully gave of her time to numerous charitable activities.
She is survived by her best friend and beloved husband of 44 years Edward McDonald. She is also survived by her three children: Julia and her husband Salvatore Setola of Paramus, NJ; Christy McDonald and her husband Joseph Casello of Brielle, NJ; and her son Edward McDonald of Manhattan. She was the much loved grandmother of Paul & Delia Setola and Delaney, Quinn & Mac Casello. She is also survived by her brother Br. Michael Kelleher, F.S.C. Funeral service 10:00AM Saturday, March 20, 2010 from Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ then to St. Anastasia’s Church, Teaneck, NJ. for a 11:00AM Mass of Christian Burial. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM.
