Obituary

Methuen, MA – Helen M. (Mahoney) Ganley, 92, died Sunday March 14, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
Helen was born in Lawrence the daughter of William and Ellen (Manning) Mahoney, and was eduycated at Saint Augustines Grammar School / Tower Hill Lawrence, Saint Mary’s High School class of “1934”, Lawrence General Hospital school of nursing “class of “1939” and did her post graduate work in New York at the New York Hospital.
During world war II as a nurse was assigned to a General Hospital on temporary duty before joining the Station Hospital going overseas. The Station Hospital Unit arrived in oran, January. 1943. Unit stayed in Oran area handling service cases as well as Sicilian Combat Casualties. Unit later assigned to Caserta, Italy (Headquarters). Handled combat cases of Naples-FoggiaCampaign. Later handled service cases of entire headquarters area. Before being honorably discharged at wars end with the rank of First Lieutenant.
Mrs. Ganley was a communicant of Saint Monica’s Church.
The widow of Edward H. Ganley survivors include daughter Jane F. Zeller and her husband Thomas of Millville, MA., son Gerald F. Ganley of Salem, NH, Neal and his wife Janet Ganley of Manchester, NH, 3 grandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildren, 1 niece and 2 nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial to which relatives and friends are invited will take place on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock March 20, 2010 in Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Lawrence.
At the families request there will be no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
