Obituary

WASHINGTON…Bertha E. Rader, 94, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 8:03 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.

Bertha was born on September 21, 1915 in Springfield to Herman and Annie Elizabeth Reynolds Oger. She married Fred Rader in Springfield on January 8, 1944. Fred preceded her in death.

Among those surviving is one daughter, Janet (DeWayne) Barton of Washington; two sons, Jim (Leona) Rader of Japan and John (Carol) Rader of Bettendorf, Iowa; one sister, Betty Ann (Robert) Alewelt of Springfield; two brothers, Thomas (Jean) Oger of Spring Hill, Florida and William (Marilyn) Oger of Vandalia; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Bertha had worked for Sangamo Electric in Springfield as an inspector prior to her retirement.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield and had been active in the Dorcas Circle and the Mother’s Club at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington with Pastor John Bates officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family in arrangements.

Memorials may be made to either St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Parish Nurse Program in Washington or the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.
