Bento V. Mello, 84, of Westport died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Lucinda (Perry) Mello, they would have celebrated their 57th year of marriage in August.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Bento V. Mello, Sr. and the late Marianna (Tavares) Mello, he had lived in Westport since 1946. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Mello was a carpenter until his retirement. He was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport and a member of the Portuguese American Civic League of Westport.
Including his wife, survivors include 2 sons: Michael Mello of Westport and Steven Mello of Westport; a daughter: Natalie Almeida of New Bedford; 2 brothers: Joseph V. Mello and Westport and John V. Mello of Westport; a sister: Gertrude Lima of Dartmouth; 2 grandchildren: Jared Almeida and Jessica Almeida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Mary Morel, Deolinda Nadeau and Manuel Mello.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from the Potter Funeral Home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St George Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
