Obituary

William M. “Bill” Blaine, of Salem, NH, died Saturday morning at the Salemhaven Nursing Home in Salem, NH after a long illness. He was 85 years old.

He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and moved to Lawrence, MA when he was a child where he grew up and was eduated. He had lived in Salem, NH for the last 58 years. He and his wife were involved in several charitable and non-profit organizations. Cub Scout Pack 160, Salem Rams. Laconia School and Salemhaven were some of the groups that benefited from numerous amateur shows Mr. and Mrs. Blaine produced.

Mr. Blaine served his country in the US Army. He worked as a welder for the Merrimack Paving Corp in Groveland, MA. He had also worked for Rock Asphalt in Haverhill, MA. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Salem.

He was the widower of Dorathea A. “Dottie” (Birchall) Blaine.

Survived by:3 Sons: William Blaine of Salem, NH

Daniel E. Blaine and his wife Mary of Salem, NH

Dennis Blaine and his wife Samia of Florida

Daughter: Bernadine Chechowitz of Salem, NH

Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:15 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Salem.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
