Albert Vernon Speer, 72, Clarksville, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with a military chaplain officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cumberalnd Presbyterain Church Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born July 29, 1937 in Brazil, TN, son of the late Albert Bedford Speer and Flora Bernice Holt Speer. Mr. Speer retired after twenty years of service with the US Air Force. Following his military service, he served twenty years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Pineville, LA. as Chief of Police. Survivors include his wife, Tomika Yamashita Speer; two sons, Donald Speer (Alesia), Bowling Green, KY and Paul Speer (Roxanne), Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter, Nancy Brown (Gordon), Franklin, TN; a brother, Robert Speer, Trenton, TN; two sisters, Kathleen McCormick, Holcomb, MO; and Laverne Scholz, Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
