On March 11, 2010 Marjorie N. Bellandese, wife of Chet peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Marge was born in Preston, England on February 23, 1931 to Nora and Lenard Kuit. Her father died when she was very young and her mother moved to the U.S. were she remarried Raymond O’Brien of Warwick, RI. Marjorie attended and graduated from Elmhurst Academy in Providence, RI (1949). She started studies in Nursing when she met and married her husband of 59 years Chet, while he was at the University of Rhode Island.
They traveled around the country until their first child was born. They settled in Mystic in 1959 where she made her home until her passing.
Marge worked as a Pharmacy Assistant for Fort Hill Pharmacy for more than 20 years. She also worked at Higgin’s Pharmacy in Mystic for many years before its closing.
Marge was known for her gift of gab and words of comfort for all who were in need. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. Her trademark sense of humor and zest for life will be missed by her family and all that knew her.
She leaves her husband Chet; her children, Judith Ryerson of Mystic, Michael and Glorisa of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Steven and Kate of Salem, CT and Mark and Mary of Kesington, CT. Marge “Nana” was especially proud of her five grandchildren: Kate, Teddy, Sean, Lizzie and Ryan, whom she shared an enduring love.
Marge’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Monday from 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, East Main Street, Mystic on Tuesday at 10am. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic.
