Salem: Paul R. Cormier age 84 of Salem, died Friday, March 12, 2010 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Genevieve T. (Rennick) Cormier, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Oliver and Yvonne (LeBel) Cormier. Following his graduation from High School, Paul joined the Army and served as a Staff Sergeant in the European Theater Campaign during W. W. II. After the war, he returned to Salem to begin working for Sylvania and to continue his education. He was an international group leader who received 6 patent awards and traveled world wide for the company. Paul retired in 1988 with 43 years at Sylvania, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Paul was a member of Ste. Anne Parish of Salem.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Dianne M. Ouellette and her husband Ronald of Northwood, NH, Elaine M Pyburn and her husband Michael of Danvers, a son, Bill P. Cormier and his wife Gail of Marblehead, a brother, Arthur Cormier of Salem, 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Webber, Julie Duchemin both of Epping, NH, Allison & Benjamin Pyburn both of Danvers, Thomas, Peter & Christopher Cormier all of Marblehead. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Nathan & Megan Webber, Jessica & Joey Duchemin and a niece Pauline Blasi of Rowley. He was predeceased by his brother Donald and nephew Paul Cormier.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 8 a.m. to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 a.m. Visiting hours: Monday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
