Marilyn A. (McTeague) Salvi of Andover, age 78, died at the Lawrence General Hospital on Thursday, March 11, 2010. A breast cancer survivor, she endured the challenges of Parkinson's Disease and other complications. She was the beloved wife of Andrew A. Salvi.
Born in Cambridge on January 19, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of the late James and Kathryn (Connors) McTeague. Marilyn grew up in Somerville, graduated from Somerville High School in 1949, then attended New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating in 1953, she began her nursing career at New England Deaconess before becoming the Operating Room Head Nurse at Norwood Hospital where she worked until she got married in 1964. The greatest love in her life was her family. She devoted every day of her married life to caring for her husband and children, always putting their needs before her own.
Besides her beloved husband, Andrew, Marilyn will be deeply missed by three children; Steven and his wife Carol Holt-Salvi of Newton, New Hampshire, Ellen R. Salvi of Watertown and Michael A. Salvi of Andover, three brothers; James McTeague of Reading, Kevin and wife Patricia McTeague of Lincoln, New Hampshire and Brian and wife Janet McTeague of Sandwich and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral mass was celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, Monday, March 15, 2010, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Sunday, March 14, 2010, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
