Obituary

SALEM- Jean Elinor (White) Hamilton, age 60, of Londonderry New Hampshire, formerly of Natick, died Monday, October 6, 2003 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Sutton, New Hampshire. She was the wife of the late William Hamilton.

Born in Amesbury, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Elinor A. (Kendrick) White. A graduate of Amesbury High School, she graduated from the Newton Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in 1964.

A registered nurse for the past 39 years, she was currently employed as a charge nurse at Beverly Health Care Nursing Home in West Newton. She previously worked at various hospitals and nursing homes in the greater Boston area.

A resident of Londonderry for the past 5 years, she previously lived in Natick. For many years, she traveled from Natick to Salem as a member of the choir of the St Thomas The Apostle Church.

Involved in the breeding, showing and judging of cats for 30 years, Mrs. Hamilton was a CFF (Cat Fancier’s Federation) all breed judge and an active member of CFF and CFA (Cat Fancier’s Association). An international judge, she was a member of the CCA (Canadian Cat Association) and was an officer in several cat clubs including the Classic Curio Cat Club and the National Persian Cat Club. She was a breeder of British Short Hairs, and previously bred Persians. She bred and showed many nationally winning cats.

Although Mrs Hamilton leaves no immediate relatives, she is survived by her close friends, Mary A. Lapham of Londonderry, NH, Jonathan and his wife Monique Lapham and Jason Lapham, all of Peabody, and her “family” of friends in the cat community.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 9 am at the St Thomas The Apostle Church, North St. Salem at the Peabody line (Route 114). Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday, from 4 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Committal is in St Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. For those who desire, donations may be made in her memory to the local cat shelter of one’s choice.
