WEST BOYLSTON – Marjorie H. (Harris) Lassey, of West Boylston celebrated her 88th birthday on December 2nd and entered into eternal life on March 10th surrounded by her family at the home of her son. Her husband of 54 years, John E. Lassey died in April 1996. She is also predeceased by a son, John Lassey who died in 2004. She leaves a son, Jeffrey Lassey and his wife, Lynne of Worcester; two daughters, Wendy Chaiken and her husband Scott of Ann Arbor, MI and Carol Chilton and her husband, Richard of New Braintree; a daughter in law, Cynthia Lassey of North Attleboro; a sister, Dorothy McCarthy of Grafton; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and five nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Lassey was born in Worcester the daughter of Walter and Jean (Meister) Harris. She worked for O.S. Walker prior to working at WPI as an administrative secretary for the AFROTC retiring at age 82. Mrs. Lassey was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church and graduated from Commerce High School. She donated to many charities especially those that helped underprivileged children. Marjorie was a devoted wife, caring mother and a loving grandmother who will be missed.
Funeral services and burial are private. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the UMASS Memorial Foundation, c/o Levine Cancer Center, 333 South St, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
