WASHINGTON…Helen O. Hesselein, 95, of Washington, passed away peacefully at her home at 11:50 a.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Helen was born on March 11, 1914 in Washington to Ralph and Lottie Zinser Vogelsang. She married Elmer Hesselein in Washington on June 4, 1932. Elmer died on August 31, 1984 at home.
Among the survivors is one daughter, Willamine (Ed) Schuck of Washington; one brother, Victor (Freya) Vogelsang of Titusville, Florida; seven loving grandchildren, Keith, Dwight, Kent, Tina, Daniel, Rodney and Rebecca; 12 great grandchildren: six great great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Irvin Vogelsang and one sister, Vera Ruble.
Prior to Helen's retirement, she had worked for more than 20 years as a secretary for Caterpillar, starting in East Peoria, then working on Main Street and at retirement was at Mossville.
Helen loved to crochet and growing flowers in her garden. She attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria when she could.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Jerry Trecek officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington.
