Sylvester “Sugar man” Cook, 63, passed away at the Genesis West Hospital in Davenport, IA on March 9, 2010. He was born in Water Valley, MS to the late Locy and Annie Mae Nicholson Cook. He was a member of Everdale M. B. Church in Water Valley, MS. He was passionate about fishing and hunting.
The visitation will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 5 to 7 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS with Rev. Phillip Brackett presiding. The committal will be held in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Dwight Jenkins, Jerry W. Jenkins, James Judson, George Lawrence, Rickey Tedford, and William Wright serving as pallbearers.
He is survived by four daughters, Lisa M. Cook of Water Valley, MS, Mary Cook of Water Valley, MS, Shalondia Bland of Apple Valley, MN and Sheritta Rush of Forth Worth, TX; three sons, Kelvin Cook and Marcello Rush of Davenport, IA and Kevin Woodard of Water Valley, MS; a brother, Jack Cook of Davenport, IA; nine grandchildren; two nephews, George Adams of Davenport, IA and Anthony Cook of Rochester, MN; a niece, Ladetra Higgins of Memphis, TN; and many other family members and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Adams.
