Daurice J. “Lovey” Ducharme, age 72, a resident of Lowell, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Harvey A. “Pete” Ducharme who passed away on Feb. 22, 2010.
She was born in Brockton, on July 31, 1938, the daughter of the late John and Gladys (Cook) Devine.
Daurice retired from the New Hampshire State Prison for Women in Goffstown, NH after many years of service as a social worker/drug addiction counselor at the prison. She was also a drug addiction counselor at Lowell General Hospital and St Joseph’s in Nashua, NH. She was also a professor of criminal justice at Hesser College, Nashua NH. She was an active member of Alcholics Anonymous.
Daurice, known to many as “Lovey”, enjoyed reading and watching her favorite TV shows: NCIS, Criminal Minds, Orpah, etc…. She had a great passion for the arts and enjoyed going to plays and theater.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Gomes and Daniel Ducharme, both of Lowell; a sister, Barbara Devine-Proulx of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Doris Labrecque of Pelham, NH; also many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Eileen, Anna, Louise, John, Billy, Jim, Jerry, and Bobby.
DUCHARME -- Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Saturday, March 13, from 2 to 6 pm at which a time a prayer service will take place at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
