James E. McGillvray Sr., of Canton formerly of West Roxbury, died March 10, 2010 in the comfort of his home after a long illness. He was 83. He grew up in Dorchester, raised his family in West Roxbury, and has lived in Canton for the past 20 years. He was a proud veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Navy, and worked as a restaurant manager for over 50 years. Devoted husband of the late Eileen T. (Kelly). Loving father of Carol Anne Hughes and her husband Paul of Walpole, James E. McGillvray Jr. of Canton, and John H. McGillvray and his wife Kathleen of Westwood. Brother of Margaret Greene of Rockland and Helen Zarrella of Marshfield. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home 210 Sherman St. Canton on Friday 4-8 PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church Washington St. Canton Saturday at 10:30. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park.
