James Anthony Bowen, age 53, Douglas, GA, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Bowen was a member of the Southview Church of God. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Southview Church of God with Rev. Hilton Martin and Rev. Benji Capps officiating. Laura Heuett and Teresa Thomas read poems for the service and music was provided by soloist, Ronald McMillan “Go Rest High on That Mountain”, soloist, Amy Capps “Come Morning”, and Scott and Joyce Roberts sang “I Know A Man Who Can”. Scott Roberts was also the pianist for the service. Interment followed in the Hall Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ronald McMillan, Jimmy Carver,Justin McNeill, Donnie Brigmond, Jimmy Moore and Phillip Collier. Honorary pallbearers were: Members of the Mixed Blessing SS Class, Coffee Community Services, Walmart Gary Davis, Wilfred Vickers,Tommy McAlister, Bethany Hospice, Edsel & Diane Roberts and Dr. Jha & staff. Survivors are: wife, Mary Tanner Bowen, Douglas, GA; son: Mark Bowen, Nicholls, GA; father, Elvin Bowen, Pearson, GA; several cousins. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
