Obituary

Mary T. “Nona” (Caledonia) Celia, 100 years, of Brockton, died March 7, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Dominic and Frances (Lachimia) Caledonia and wife of the late Peter Celia. Mary was born and raised in Brockton on Paddy’s Lane. She served for five years as President of Kennedy Drive for the elderly and became involved with local politics. Mary was known as “Granny” on WBET’s Charlie Bergeron morning show. She was also involved with music and played the guitar, piano and keyboard. She was a great cook, homemaker and an avid Red Sox fan. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, and her grand, great and great great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Grace Patricelli; grandchildren Carlton Burr, Donna Busch, Peter Burr, David Burr, Robert Burr, Jr., Grace Burr and Sheree Johnson; 11 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Mildred Celia and son-in law Robert Burr, Sr. and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late James Celia, Marilyn Burr and Edward Celia; grandmother of the late Marilyn Augenti and Jonathan Burr; and sister of the late Grace Petrozzello, Jennie Strangis, Rose Caledonia, James Vescio, Raymond Vescio, Frank Vescio, Albert Caledonia, Edward Caledonia and Pauline Paone.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 5-8pm with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
