Obituary

Catherine (Haggerty) Gilpin 87 of Franklin and formerly of Abington died March 7 in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston; she was the wife of the late William Gilpin who died in 1995.
Born in Boston, July 8, 1922 the daughter of the late John and Mary (McEachen) Haggerty, Mrs. Gilpin was raised in the Mission Hill section of Boston and had lived in Abington for many years before moving to Franklin in 1992.
A homemaker, Mrs. Gilpin had earlier in her life been the executive secretary to the editor of the Pilot Newspaper in Boston.
Mrs. Gilpin had been actively involved with many Catholic Charities.
She is survived by her daughter Mary C. Buck and her husband Stephen of Franklin and her son Paul A. Gilpin and his wife Cindy of Burlington.
She is also survived by her sister Margaret Lyons of Canton and her grandchildren, Tyler and Katherine Buck, Ryan and Molly Gilpin and Jennifer Thomas.
She is also survived by her nieces Mary Lyons and Barbara Shapanus and nephew Richard Lyons.
She was the sister of the late Rev. Charles Haggerty O’Carm.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 11 in St. Bridget’s Church in Abington at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Rockland.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Carmelites of North America, PO Box 3079, Middletown, NY 10940.
