Woodrow S. Chmieleski, 90, of Salem, NH died Sat. March 6th at Salemhaven in Salem, NH.
Woody was born in Lawrence, MA and grew up in Salem, NH graduating from Woodbury High School in 1937. He served in the US Army Air Force during WW II. He was a Fleet Mechanic with Essem Packing Co. in Lawrence, MA. After his retirement, Woody worked for many years at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Church in Salem.
Woody was a member of the Amvets NH Post # 2 and served as Commander for 25 years, a member and Past Commander, Treasurer and Adjutant of the American Legion Post # 63, a member, Youth Essay Chairman and Color Guard Member of VFW Post #8546, a member of Pup Tent #12 Military Order of the Cooties and Past Seam Squirrel and Chaplin, a member of the Salem Knights of Columbus #4442 and a member of the 4th Degree of the Bishop Peterson Assembly, a member of the Derry Salem Elks, a member of the Salem Veterans Council where he served as Treasurer for many years, a member of the Salem Kiwanis Club, a member of the Ward 6 Club in Lawrence, MA, a member of the Julian Stopyra Post in Lawrence, a member of the Salem Senior Center, a member of Crimeline of Southern NH, a member of the Golden Agers, a member of the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Happy Travelers Club.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Silverthorne Adult Day Care and Salemhaven for the extraordinary care and compassion given to Woody during his time there.

Funeral Services will be Wed. March 10th at 10AM at St. Joseph Church in Salem. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
Calling hours are Tues. from 3-5PM and 7-9PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.
