Evelyn "Vivian" (Santos) Silva, 77, of New Bedford died Friday March 5, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Carlton R. Silva.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Sebastian and Mary (Gonsalves) Santos, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Silva was formerly employed by Commonwealth Gas Company until her retirement.
She enjoyed music and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Curtis M. Silva and his wife Debra of New Bedford; her daughter-in-law, Yvonne M. Santos of New Bedford; three sisters, Ilda DePina of Fairhaven, Matilda Roderick of Falmouth, and Shirley Silva of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Kim and Dion Santos and Curtis Silva Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Jeffrey W. Santos, and sister of the late Adelaide Guilmette, Anna Dash, and Joseph Santos.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
