Jean (Anderson) Biggar, a longtime resident of Wakefield, died on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Woburn Nursing Center in Woburn, following an extended illness. She was 83 years old.

Jean was born in Widness, England, on February 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Dr. Leonard and Annie Anderson.
She was the wife of 62 years, to her devoted husband, Robert. The loving mother of Christopher, of Limington ME, and the late Jonathan. The adored and dedicated grandmother of Lee, Erica and Jeffrey and great grandmother of Jonathan and William. She was predecesed by her brother Keith.
Jean emigrated from England in 1952 with her husband Bob and then 2 year old son Jonathan. Two years later Christopher joined the family. Jean cherished the many special friendships she developed over the years. She worked tirelessly her whole life, believing it was better to give than to take. She quietly assisted people in the community by helping to provide what was needed in the time of crisis. She provided weeks worths of meals, house cleaning, shopping, and transportation for those in need. One time she invited a family she just met, from out of state, to stay with her while their child recovered from an illness at MGH. In recent years, Jean quilted baby blankets for The Linus Project, in honor of her late son. The Battered Women's Shelter, Veterns Center and Wakefield Food Pantry are among the local organizations Jean generously donated clothing, furniture, and food to. Jean was a member of the Back Door Garden Club, The Quilting Club, and Wakefield Senior Center.

There will be a private interment.
Family and friends will be invited to a," Celebration of Jean's Life," at her residence, when her garden is in bloom.
