Mrs. Alice (Rizos) Demogenes, passed away Friday, March 5th, at Saints Medical Center.
She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Fannie (Tingas) Rizos.
Loving wife of 50 years to the late George N. Demogenes who passed in 2001.
A lifelong resident, she was educated through the Lowell Schools.
Alice was also a graduate of Lowell General Hospital Nursing School, as a register nurse. She furthered her education at Boston Floating Hospital specializing in pediatric care.
She worked as a registered nurse for many years in greater Lowell at Lowell General Hospital, for the Lowell Public Schools, as a school nurse, and most recently, prior to her retirement for the City of Lowell as a public health nurse.
Alice was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, she enjoyed gardening and was a strong advocate for education.
She is survived by her daughters, Martha Smith and her husband, Charles of Edgartown, MA, Maria Amaral of Newburyport; a brother, Christos Rizos and his wife, Ann of Dracut; a beloved granddaughter, Madeline Souleotis of Barre, MA; a grandson, Jason Roux of Hawaii; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Rose; also many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Wednesday morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Her funeral will take place from the Funeral Home on Wednesday to be followed by a service at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
