Christina I. Donahue, DOB November 22, 1917, died March 4, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.
Chris was the only daughter of Joseph and Bridget (Daly) Igo. She was a graduate of St. Rita Grammar School and valedictorian of her high school class at St Mary High in Lawrence. She was the wife of the late John R. (Bob) Donahue. Prior to her marriage she was employed in the Lawrence mills as an office worker. After raising her children she worked as a nursery school teacher in Andover and Haverhill. She lived in Andover for 54 years and was a parishioner of St Augustine Church and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the St. Clare League.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Having been an only child she loved raising her four children. As a mother she was a role model of boundless giving which was extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also was the wind beneath her husband’s wings as he did his charity work, for which they were well known in the community. Her support enabled him to be active throughout his long battle with Parkinsons.
She leaves her son Joseph W. Donahue and his wife Kathleen of Naples, FL, Marylin Murphy and her husband Colin of Methuen, Connie Comtois and her husband David of Methuen and Denise Peterson and her husband Richard of Methuen. Five grandchildren, Meaghann Jackson and her husband Derek, Brendan Murphy and his wife, Jillian Comtois and Fiancée, Craig Harmon, Zachary Comtois and Liam Comtois, as well as four great grandchildren, Thomas, Alexander, Matthew Jackson and baby Murphy. Chris also leaves many life long friends especially her chosen sisters, Margaret Beaulieu, who was with Chris for 85 of their 92 years, and Nan Murphy of Quincy, Jack Peterson of Lawrence and joins the late Claire Peterson of Lawrence, and Ann Sweeney of Andover.
A special thank you is also extended to the A2 staff at Academy Manor Nursing Home who not only lovingly cared for her but also for her family during her final days.
