Obituary

Michelle Gorman-McCabe, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at her home on the compound, surrounded by all her loving family after a 2 year courageous battle with brain cancer. She was 48 years old.

Michelle was born in Boston on December 31, 1961. She grew up in Charlestown and attended St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1980. Michelle had been working for the City of Boston for the last 28 years as a Manager for the Boston Centers for Youth and Family Services.

Michelle is the beloved wife of John F. "Jocko" McCabe. She is the loving mother of Aileen M. Gorman and her companion Richard McPherson of Charlestown. She is the loving Nana Shell to Hailey and Niamh McPherson. She is the beloved daughter of Ruth (Sullivan) Gorman of Charlestown and the late Joseph Gorman. She is the devoted sister of Ruthanne Brennan and her husband Norman of Charlestown, Kimberly Gorman and her companion John Sodergran of Charlestown, Andrea Gorman-Hingston and her husband James of Charlestown and the late Mark Gorman and Doreen Gorman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Michelle's Funeral on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren Street, Charlestown, at 10 a.m. Committal Services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours are on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m.
