Obituary

WEBSTER -- Francis R. "Franny" Sterczala, age 70, of 91 Lower Gore Road, died Sunday, October 5, in Beaumont Rehabilitation Home in Northbridge.

He leaves his wife of 38 years Joan M. (Lukasek) Sterczala; a son Randy A. Sterczala of Webster; a daughter Beth A. Boudreau of Douglas; and 2 nieces. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Walter, Joseph, and Vincent Sterczala.

He was born in Webster, son of the late Frank and Nellie (Foran) Sterczala, and lived here all his life. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1951, where he played on the varsity football team.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. He played on the marine football team at Quantico base in Virginia, where he was stationed.

Mr. Sterczala owned and operated Fran's Getty Station on East Main Street for many years. He was then a custodian at Bartlett High School until his retirement.

He was a member of Saint Louis Parish and the Polish American Veterans. He was a life member of the Webster Lodge of Elks #1466. He owned his own plane. He enjoyed all sports, and loved target shooting.

The funeral, with military honors, will be held Wednesday, October 8, from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery. A calling period will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Wedensday, October 8, in the funeral home.
