Bertha Louise Thompson Cobb-Hyde of Helena, Arkansas, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 in Helena.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Friday, March 5 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dan Hyde officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
She was born November 6, 1910 in Fitzgerald to the late Edward and Tena Huling-Thompson. She grew up attending the Church Of The Nazarene in Fitzgerald where she helped out in everything from Sunday School Superintendent to church pianist. She was a former employee of the Cotton Mill and a former writer for the Fitzgerald Cotton Mill Newspaper. She was a devout Christian from childhood and raised her children in a Christian household. She married W.C. Cobb and they shared 50 years together before his passing. Later she met and married George Milton Hyde. Along with her Lord, she shared her love of music with others at every opportunity. She will always be remembered for her beautiful flower garden, which she cherished.
She is survived by a son, Denzil Cobb of Nebraska; daughter, Albertina Arthur of Lexa, Arkansas; daughter & son-in-law, Dr. Marv & Eloise Traylor of Helena, Arkansas; grandsons, Denzil Lee Cobb of Nebraska,; Tony & Michael McDonald and Dr. Maurice Traylor, all of Arkansas; stepson, Rev. Daniel Hyde; three stepdaughters, Evangeline Beasley, Martha MacDermaid and Joy Reese; 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 16 step grandchildren well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, W.C. Cobb and George Milton Hyde; brothers, DeLoss, Rudolph and Curtis Thompson; sister, Willesta Williams; grandson, Jeff Traylor; stepson, Tom Hyde and a stepdaughter, Louise Cooper.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church Of The Nazarene Music Department, 323 N. Main St., Fitzgerald, GA 31750.
