Marilyn M. (Peters) Howard-Charbonnier, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died unexpectedly in Florida on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. She was 77 years old.
Marilyn was born on July 2, 1932 in Presque Isle, Maine to the late Warren H. and Margeret (Ketch) Peters. She grew up in Charlestown and attend Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. Marilyn worked for several years in the cafeteria at The Kent Elementary School in Charlestown and became a delegate for the cafateria workers union, A.F.S.C.M.E. She then began working for the Department of Corrections as a Matron at The Suffolk County Jail in Boston and retired in 1988.
Marilyn is the beloved wife of the late Richard "Red" Charbonnier and William J. Howard. She is the devoted mother of Sharon Schiappucci of Charlestown, Marilyn Sorrentino and her husband Jimmy of Clermont, Florida and Boston Police Officer Steven W. Howard of Charlestown. She is the loving grandmother of Jason and Jamie Schiappucci, Jessica, Phillip and Steven Castronova, Kristyn, Katie and Stephanie Howard and her great-grandson; Colby Schiappucci.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Marilyn's Funeral on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours are on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 2 to 6 p.m.
