Obituary

PEORIA…Janice A. Scott, 71, of Peoria, passed away at 1:54 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center with her family by her side.

Janice was born on August 1, 1938 in Peoria to Clarence and Genevive Molson Kraft. She married John R. Scott on May 10, 1958 in Peoria. John survives.

Also surviving is one daughter, Robin (Dale) Beaty of Barnesville, Georgia; one son, James Scott of Jonesboro, Georgia; three grandchildren, Melissa, Christian and Jaclyn; three great grandchildren, Angela, Kayelynn and Annabelle and one nephew, Victor Kraft. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Joan Scott; and one nephew, Christopher R. Kraft.

Janice had worked for Caterpillar as a secretary at various offices in the Peoria area, including East Peoria and Mossville, last working in the main offices downtown at her retirement in 1996. After retirement she continued working in the Caterpillar offices an additional four years. Janice started working for Caterpillar on her 18th birthday in 1956.

She was a 1956 graduate of Manual High School and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, I W Donemeyer Chapter #778 and also the Caterpillar Retirees Club. Janice also had been active in the Peoria RC Modelers Club where she was a past president.

Janice was an active member of Mt. Hawley Community Church where she had also volunteered in many capacities over the years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Mt. Hawley Community Church with Pastor Dan Spreacker officiating. Entombment will follow in Springdale mausoleum. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church and also 30 minutes prior to services on Friday. Mason-White Funeral home in Washington is assisting the family in arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Hawley Community Church.
