FAIRHAVEN -- Helen Furber, 76, of Fairhaven, formerly of Armour Street, New Bedford, Ma., died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Our Lady's Haven, where she had resided this past year.
Born on Martha's Vineyard, daughter of the late George and Berta (Fuller) Furber, she grew up in New Bedford and lived there most of her life. She kept a residence on the island, where she summered most of her life.
Ms. Furber had been employed by New Bedford Gas and Edison Light Co. for 39 years before retiring in 1987.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vineyard Haven.
She was a member of the Stetsoniers Choral Group of the gas company.
She loved animals and was especially fond of cats.
Survivors include cousins; and her caregiver and provider, Phyllis Faunce of Acushnet, Ma.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday Oct. 9, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Tisbury on Martha's Vineyard. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m.
