Roger N. L'Heureux, 87, of Mendon Rd., Woonsocket, formerly of Bouvier Ave., Manville, died Tuesday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Doris (Patras) L’Heureux. They were married on May 6, 1944.
Born in Manville, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Merelda (Marcil) L’Heureux. He was a lifelong resident of Manville prior to moving to Woonsocket in 2003.
Mr. L’Heureux served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was employed in the jewelry industry at Hedison Inc., Wells-Benrus, Inc., and several other firms in the region until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. L’Heureux was a longtime member of the Alphonse Yelle American Legion Post 9, Manville. He was active with the St. Joseph, St. Agatha’s, Holy Family, and All Saints Senior Citizens groups, the AARP, and the Golden Hearts. He was also a member of the Union of Prayer at St. James in Manville.
Roger loved traveling and enjoyed playing cards and pool. He was an accomplished cribbage player.
Above all Roger was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by a daughter, Joyce E. L’Heureux-Jones, and her husband Alan, and a granddaughter, Lisa Jones, all of Leominster, MA. He was the brother of the late Mozart L’Heureux and Gertrude Lebel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are omitted.
