Obituary

WORCESTER____Anna (Galanek) Szpakowski, 85, of Worcester, died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 in her home with her family presence at the time. Her husband, Walter Szpakowski died in 1982.

She leaves her daughter, Elzbieta Szymanski and her husband Adam, two grandchildren, Christopher Szpakowski and Elzbieta Szpakowski, all of Worcester; two brothers, Jozef Galanek of Poland and Stanislaw Galanek of Worcester and many nephews and nieces. Her son, Andrew P. Szpakowski died in 2001. She was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Wincenty and Bronislaw Galanek, Zofia Rzeszko and Maria Sadowska. She was born and raised in Poland, a daughter of Roch and Aniela (Kopec) Galanek and has resided in Worcester since 1976.

Mrs. Szpakowski was an honest, hardworking and religious person who enjoyed taking care of her home and helping others. She was educated in Poland and had worked there in a bakery and pastry company.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 2 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, March 1, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
