
Bridgewater – Joseph G. Paiva Jr 75 died Thursday February 25. He was the beloved husband for 53 years of Jeannette (Brousseau) Paiva.
Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late Joseph G. Paiva Sr. and Adalaide “Ada” (Bowker) Paiva of Brockton. He attended Whitman schools and was a graduate of Whitman High School.
He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956.
Joe was a truck driver and a proud member of the Teamster’s Union for over 30 years. He was a member of the Marcom and South Shore Car Clubs and a talented mechanic who always enjoyed the challenge of repairing and restoring cars. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
He was a resident of Bridgewater for 50 years and after his retirement he along with his wife enjoyed 12 years as “Snowbirds” wintering in Florida. He was a friend of Bill W for 42 years.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his children Mark Paiva of Whitman and Karen Paiva of Bridgewater, his sister Jacqueline Hennebury of Hanson, and Grandpa’s girl Jeannette Morrison of Bridgewater. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his loving extended family.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday March 2 at 9:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman followed by a mass at 10 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM in the Mass VA Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Monday March 1 from 4 -8 PM.
