Worcester- Bertha C. (Piette) Galkowski, 88, of 119 Providence St., died Sunday, Oct. 5, in Radius Healthcare Center.
Her husband, Charles B. Galkowski, died in 1979. She leaves a granddaughter, Cheryl A. Piccirelli of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Rita T. Jones of Chillithe, MO, and Ethel C. Eckland of Waltham; a great granddaughter; nephews and nieces. Her daughter, Barbara A. Piccirelli-Tokla, died in 2001.A brother, Joseph G. Piette, predeceased her. Three sisters, Elizabeth M. Carelli, Irene L. McKenze, and Doris R. Moon, also predeceased her. She was born in Thompson, daughter of Antonio and Irene L. (Austin) Piette and was raised in Oxford, prior to moving here in 1937.
She worked for Hobbs Manufacturing for 18 years, retiring in 1959.
The funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 9, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
