Catherine J. Collins, 91, passed away on February 24th, 2010. She was born in Medford on August 4th, 1918 to her parents Robert J. and Nellie (Meagher) Keane. Catherine was raised and educated in Medford, graduating from St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Medford High School, Class of 1936. For over 13 years, she worked as a receptionist at the welfare office at Medford City Hall. She also worked at the First National Store in Medford for over 20 years. During her lifetime, Catherine was an active parishioner at both St. Josephs Parish and St. Clements Parish in Medford. She was an avid New England sports fan, following the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots with great joy. She is survived by her daughter; Maureen Auterio and her husband Kenneth of Chatham; and by her granddaughters; Noreen Auterio of Arlington and Christine Burns and her husband Scot of Whitman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband John J. Collins and by her siblings, Anna Keane, Mary DeWolfe and John “Bud” Keane. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday March 1st at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church in Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday February 28th from 2-6 PM.
