Obituary

Ronald F. Black 75 of East Walpole died February 23 in Caritas Norwood Hospital; he was the husband of Geraldine E. (Dailey) Black.
Born in Boston, September 28, 1934 the son of the late Francis and Evelyn (Silsby) Black, Mr. Black was raised in Boston and had lived in East Walpole since 1967.
Mr. Black attended Boston University and had been a project manager for the Iron Mountain Company for 22 years before his retirement.
Mr. Black had long been active in Walpole youth sports.
He had managed the Orioles little league team for 37 years and had also coached in the Walpole Pop Warner Football program.
Mr. Black served in the Marine Corps during the late 1950’s attaining the rank of Sergeant, and was a member of the Free State Detachment 544 of the Marine Corps League and the Oorah Pound Number 302 of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs.
As well as coaching Walpole youth sports Mr. Black was an avid fan of the Boston professional ball teams.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons James Black and his wife Christine of Billerica and David Black and his wife Christina Black of Mansfield.
Mr. Black is also survived by his brother Alan Black and his wife Kathy of Florida and his grandchildren,
Ryan, Matthew, Aidan, Camden and Jacob.
His funeral will be held on Saturday February 27 from the Ginley Funeral Home 892 Main St. Walpole at 9:30 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30
Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park Canton.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-8.
