John M. D'Orsi, of Stoneham, died Monday February 22nd at St. Mary Medical Center in Florida, after a sudden illness. He was 62.
John was the founder of the Ginger Bread Construction Company of Winchester and Wakefield. The son of a Malden baker and pastry chef, John founded his specialty baking company in 1981. What started from simple gingerbread products has grown into a baking company with a worldwide customer base. John was a man with a strong love for his family and friends, whose solid work ethic and commitment to his employees not only helped his company grow but also widened his circle of friends.
The beloved husband of Janet M. (O’Leary) D'Orsi, John was a loving father to Kristin D'Orsi, Alison D'Orsi and Sheli Noumi. He was a dear brother to Joseph D’Orsi, his wife Valarie and Rosalee D’Orsi all of Revere and the late Mary Ann LeBlanc-D’Orsi. He was a devoted son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Vacca) D’Orsi.
John’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday March 1st at 8:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Sunday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
