Obituary

Wayland: Laura (Carreia) Lupis, 83, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 21, 2010 following a long illness.
She was born in Framingham on March 25, 1926 the daughter of Manuel and Laura Carreia.

Laura is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Alfred Lupis of Wayland. She was the devoted mother of Sandra Penney and her husband David of Wayland and Dana Jackson and her husband Paton of Worcester. She was the cherished grandmother of Alison Penney and Kyle Penney of Wayland and Ryan Eckert of Ashland, Nikhil Thorat and Priyanka Thorat both of Northborough. She also leaves a sister Eva Manzella of Framingham and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Emily Fernandes and Frank Carreia.

Laura has been a resident of Wayland for over 50 years and spent her formative years in Framingham. She was educated in the Framingham School system and for many years was a seamstress with the Sportswear Store in Framingham before her retirement. She and her husband Al loved to travel in their 1983 Lincoln especially to Lake George, New York. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent cook. She and her husband spent countless hours maintaining their property and gardens. She was very proud of her Portuguese heritage, she treasure her grand children and loved spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St (Route 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Lupis family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate Village, Wayland.
