Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Carl J. Marcy, age 89, a resident of Tewksbury, formerly of Methuen , Wilmington and Medford, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2010 at the Pines of Tewksbury.
He was the beloved husband of Alice G. (Harper) Marcy, who passed away on June 9, 1997.
Born in Medford on May 11, 1920, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Josephine (Beliveau) Marcy.
Carl was raised in Medford, attended Medford schools and graduated from Medford High School.
In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II as an Electricians Mate Second Class.
Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed as a signalman by the B&M Railroad Company.
Following his military service, he moved to Wilmington, where he and his late wife raised their family.
While residing in Wilmington, he attended St. Thomas of Villanova Church and assisted the Council on Aging by providing transportation to the elderly community in Wilmington.
In 1998, following the passing of his wife, he moved to Methuen, where he lived with his daughter's family until recently moving to the Pines of Tewksbury.
Mr. Marcy enjoyed many activities including bowling, skiing, snowshoeing, skating and swimming at Silver Lake in Wilmington and Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. In addition, he enjoyed summer vacations spent with his family on Cape Cod.
Mr. Macy is survived by one son, Lawrence R. Marcy and his wife Rita (McColley) of Manchster, NH; two daughters, Joan A. Riddle and her husband Brian of Methuen and Virginia L. "Ginny" Buccaroni of Orange; eleven grandchildren, Gregory, Eric and Brian Riddle, Christine Allen, Kimberly Burbo, Kevin and Alison Marcy, Jimmy, Nicole and Brian Buccaroni and Philip Oliveira; also thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Marcy was the father of the late Linda Oliveira, father-in-law of the late Louis J. Buccaroni and brother of the late Mildred DeLong, Carol Wallace, Beulah Forrest, Herbert and Richard Marcy.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 3rd, from 9:30a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Dorothy's Church, Main St., Rte. 38, Wilmington. Interment at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843-9924.
