Lawrence J. “Larry” Costello, of Milford, formerly of West Roxbury passed away February 24, 2010. He was 78 years old.
Born in Boston, Larry was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Jamaica Plain, where he met his high school sweetheart Mary Lou Shields, whom he was married to for over 50 years. Larry served in the US Navy as a Disbursement Officer at Quonset Point RI. He went on to graduate from Boston College where he received a BS and MBA in Business. Following his college years, Larry began his professional career at GTE Sylvania in Needham, MA. He spent most of his career as a Contracts Manager at the AVCO Everett Research Lab, which had him spending a good deal of time working in Hawaii. As a boy, he spent summers on Cape Cod and in retirement, spent winters in Melbourne Fl. Larry loved spending time with his family and in 2003 he celebrated his 50th Anniversary from Boston College as a Golden Eagle.
Larry was the dear and devoted husband of the late Mary (Shields). Beloved father of Christine Costello of VA, Larry Costello and his wife Carolann of West Roxbury, Maryann Costello of Milford, Richard Costello and his wife Millie of Norfolk, and Robert Costello of Norwood. Dear grandfather of Lauren, Kerri, Thomas, Edward and Matthew Costello, and Cody Skully. Loving brother of Edward Costello of Westwood. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Larry's Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. John Chrysostom Church, West Roxbury Saturday, February 27, 2010. Contributions in Larry’s memory may be made to VNA and Hospice of Greater Milford 25 Birch St. Milford, MA 01757.
