James J. Condon, 72, died peacefully on February 21, 2010 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.
He was born in New York City on December 10, 1937, the son of Joseph Condon and Rose (Nertney) Condon. His sister, Rose Ellen Barnes died in 1994.
He is survived by his nieces, Nancy O’Connor, Kathleen Barnes, and Sheila Lyons.
James graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and Manhattan College in 1959 with a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
He was employed by the Electric Boat division of General Dynamics for thirty-six years, in Deep Submergence Engineering, notably involved in development of the Nuclear Powered Research Vessel NR-1.
James was a proud to be a founding member of the Mystic Highlands Pipe band. He played bagpipes and drums.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday February 28 from 4-6pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am Monday,, March 1 at St. Patrick Church with interment following at Elm Grove Cemetery.
