Robert J. Mischke of Mystic passed away peacefully at home February 23, 2010.
Born in Meriden June 10, 1929, he was the son of John Mischke.
Bob attended Wilcox Technical School and Meriden High School. After graduation Bob worked for Cuno Engineering Company until he was drafted into the Army in 1953. He proudly served his country in Korea. He was proud to be a Korean War Veteran.
Upon discharge from the Army Bob returned returned to Cuno Engineering where he met his future wife, Elaine Mandeville. Bob and Elaine were married January 12, 1957. Shortly thereafter Bob went to work for Pratt and Whitney as a draftsman. He worked his way to Senior Design Engineer and held that position until his retirement in 1992. During his employment he held several patents on adaptions for jet engines.
He was a born inventor and took great pride in his inventions from Halloween costumes to jet engines.
Bob was most proud of his family. They were his greatest achievement and his greatest pride. Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine Mischke, his son Mark R. Mischke and his wife Ali Mischke of Natick, Mass. and his daughter Lynn Mischke and her partner Janine Holt of Noank.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1pm at the Noank Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Connecticut Humane Society in Quaker Hill CT (www.cthumane.org).
