James F. Byrne Jr. - Passed away in Sacramento, CA on February 18, 2010. Born in South Boston, MA on December 20, 1933 to Mildred V. (Brennan) Byrne and James F. Byrne.
When he was nine, his family moved to West Roxbury where he grew up and graduated from St. Mary’s of the Assumption High School in nearby Brookline. He spent a year at Boston College before joining the Navy in 1952. After leaving the Navy in 1956, he joined the Federal Aviation Administration, where he spent the next 32 years of his career. He married Joan E. Norton of West Roxbury on April 23, 1960, and passed away 2 months before their 50th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan of Sacramento, CA, his sons James F. Byrne III of Sacramento, CA and Michael J. Byrne of Foothill Ranch, CA, his daughter-in-law Lisa (Jiu) Byrne, 4 grandchildren: Kelsey, McKenzie, Bridget, and Seamus, and siblings Robert Byrne, Edward Byrne and Margaret (Byrne) Fitzgerald.
Funeral from the P.E. Murray-George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY, Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM. Interment Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
